Conditions Treated by the Orthopaedics Physiotherapy Team

Spondylitis:

Spondylitis is an inflammation in the vertebral joints, which is often not identified until it has fully developed causing pain in vertebrae or spine. The pain caused due to spondylitis is usually around the cervical region of the neck, lower spine, and shoulder.

Arthritis:

Arthritis is swelling and tenderness that occurs in one or more joints. Some common and possible cause includes abnormal metabolism, injury, immune system problem.

Slipped Disc:

Slipped Disc refers to a problem related to rubbery discs which are between the spinal bones. It happens when the spinal disc pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior casing.

Muscle Sprain:

Muscle Sprain is stretching or tearing of ligaments, which are the fibrous tissue connecting the bones, and the joints. It can be due to walking or exercising on an uneven surface.

Scoliosis:

Scoliosis is an abnormal curve formed in the spine. It can either be in the top of the shoulder or at the lower back.

Limb reconstruction:

Club foot:

Club foot is most common among babies where the baby foot is twisted or turned where the tissues connecting the muscles to the tendons are shorter than normal.

Cerebral Palsy:

Cerebral Palsy is associated with abnormal reflexes, rigidity or floppiness of the limbs or trunk which leads to abnormal posture or involuntary movements.

Dysplasia of the hip:

Dysplasia is an abnormality in the joints of the hip resulting in a controlled risk of joint dislocation where the portion of the socket does not cover the ball portion.

Osteogenesis imperfecta:

Osteogenesis imperfecta is a genetic disorder where the bones break easily like fractures or brittles with mild or severe pain.

Arthrogryposis:

Arthrogryposis leads to weakness or contractures where the motion of the joint may be affected as you can face difficulty in full or partial extend or bend.
